    The goal Introduction to theoretical and practical aspects of the pathology and treatment of diseases of pigs and overcoming the necessary skills relevant for health care of pigs and independently resolving common problems present in health protection of pigs.
    The outcome The student needs to know etilogy and pathogenesis of diseases of pigs, understand the mechanisms of disease, be able to clinical examination, diagnose and be able to determine and implement appropriate therapy and prophylaxis.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Behavioral disorders in pigs (2). Diseases of digestive system: diseases of the mouth and esophagus (2), oesophago-gastric ulcusl, colibacillosis (4). Dysentery, intestinal adenomatosis, necrotic enteritis (3), Transmissible gastroenteritis, enzootic viral diarhoes, vomiting syndrome and PWMS, ileus, prolapse of rectum and anus, ascites and periartritis (4). Diseases of the liver and the pancreas (2). Respiratory diseases: rhinitis, atrophic rhinitis, mycoplasmal pneumonia, pleuropneumonia, pleuritis, PRRS (2).Diseases of the heart and blood vessels: Inflammation of the pericardium and endocardium, a viral inflammation of the heart muscle, mulberry heart diseases, heart attack, heart failure, diseases of peripheral blood and blood vessels (2). Diseases of the blood and hematopoietic organs: anemia, leucosis, hemolytic disease of newborn piglets, prolonged bleeding from the navel, thrombocytopenic purpura, a disease of the spleen (2). Urinary system diseases: nephropathy, bacterial pyelonephritis, cystitis, urolithiasis and enterorenal syndrome (2). Diseases of the CNS and senses (2). Metabolism: rickets, ostomalacia, ketosis of sows and hypoglycemia of piglets (2). Diseases of the locomotor system: pododermatitis, femoral epiphysiolysis, femoral epiphysis, stiffness of joints, stress syndrome (2). Diseases of the Skin (2). Disorders of the mammary gland: a hypo and agalactia (2). Infetivne disease of swine (4). Biosecurity measures on comercial pig farm (6).
    Contents of exercises Health control of sows and newborn piglets, body condition score (10). Health control of weaned piglets: the application of drugs, parenteral and peros (5). Health control of growing pigs (5). Health control of reproductive categories (5). Introduction and implementation of biosecurity measures on pig farms (5).
